In the heart of the Marais

In an ideal location overlooking one of the most happening thoroughfares of the Marais, between the Hôtel de Ville and Pompidou Centre, the Duo Paris is a family legend, passed down from mother to daughter over four generations. It has moved with the times, starting out in the 1930s as a small local hotel, becoming “Axial Beaubourg” in the 80s and 90s and then taking advantage of its recent refurbishment to change its name to “Duo Paris” and confirm its status as an intrinsic part of the Marais quarter.

Interior designer Jean-Philippe Nuel , already playing a part in the full refurb in 1999, put his name to the hotel extension which was built in the summer of 2006. By incorporating the building next door, the hotel gained around thirty rooms and spacious lounges, a rarity in this historic quarter where the narrowness of the buildings is often a constraint.

The new building houses the hotel’s higher category rooms which are both comfortable and invigorating, whilst the first generation rooms are more restrained, slightly less spacious and well-maintained. Some of these have exposed beams, one of the charms of the old building. The welcome is friendly yet old-fashioned.

The clientele

The Duo Paris attracts business and leisure travellers in the week but has a predominant gay clientele at weekends. It is ideal as a base to take advantage of the thousand and one things on offer in the Marais whilst enjoying the charm of a beautifully-decorated hotel with pleasant lounges.
