Entrance
The Adriano is a corner building of imposing stature standing high above a small square and embroiled in the web of little streets of the city. The entrance, marked by a flag, leads onto a large vestibule bordered by a table dotted with orchids in many colours, creating a very pleasant first impression.

The ground floor of the hotel is open plan and divided into sitting areas, breakfast rooms and meeting rooms where people pass through or meet up, each with their own specific atmosphere.

The reception desk waves its way softly from the entrance to the bar and the lounges in the winter garden conservatory. With its bronze tiled floor and high ceilings, beams steeped in history yet painted white to add light, on first impression you could be entering a small family residence decked out with a myriad of little details.

A large crystal chandelier, an old box in studded wood, an antique mirror giving a sepia reflection, a fabulous painting of a sensuality reminiscent of the work of Ingres and carefully displayed antiques are but a few examples of a décor which combines traditional and modern with a keen eye for detail. The effect continues in the pure lines of the gracious smoked glass lamps, the Moroccan rugs, the long leather banquette and its innumerable cushions, the many console tables heavy with objects, the Chinese vases, deep armchairs upholstered in linen and the sturdy country dresser painted in a light colour.

These areas have been designed as a living space and regularly host exhibitions of works of art and even on occasion display designer clothes and jewellery.

The rooms
White painted walls and parquet flooring for the most recent and wallpaper and carpets for those refurbished in 2000: although as a general rule different materials have been used, depending on when they were refurbished, they all have the same simple, warm feel with a well-balanced, tasteful decor.

The most recent of the rooms have purer lines, more high tech equipment and a more contemporary décor, but in all cases the bedspreads have been carefully selected to match the curtains and the bed heads. The absence of pattern, something of a rarity in Rome, and the quality of the fabrics in rich, warm colours of burgundy and chocolate, add to the softness and simple elegant feel of these rooms.

Lighting is indirect and some of the rooms have high ceilings and exposed beams. The most recent rooms are more likely to have cupboards whilst the more classic rooms are equipped with sturdy wardrobes.

The more modern bathrooms are fairly pure in style with modern fittings, elegant grey-bronze tiles and beautiful prints of plants.

Room types
The hotel offers a wide selection of room types, the four main categories being “singola”, “doppia”, “tripla” and suite, all available in standard, superior and deluxe.

The superior and deluxe rooms were part of the most recent refurbishment. The deluxe are more spacious and offer additional extras such as linen bathrobes and slippers.

The suites are perfect for family use and there is one particularly large one with a mezzanine level.

The rooms look out onto a busy street or a small courtyard.

Breakfast

Served buffet-style in a large room which, with its terracotta tiles, beautiful exposed beams and furniture draped in linen, has all the charm of a chic country residence. A good simple selection of croissants, breads, jams, cereals, fromage blanc, hot drinks, hard-boiled eggs, fruits and fruit salads is immaculately presented on a long wooden table.
