The Capo d’Africa’s position behind the Colosseum in the heart of the Celio district places it close to one of Rome’s most important sights, while enjoying the benefits of a small neighbourhood that has its own charm.

Between the underground chapel at San Clemente, and the fortified church of Santi Quattro Coronati where you can marvel at rare mediaeval frescoes and listen to the pure chanting of Augustinian nuns, there’s a small local market, and a few restaurants and two modern art galleries that are worth a visit.

Apart from the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, the hotel’s position makes it easy to visit the monuments of south-west Rome on foot, whether it’s the amazing basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano or the Baths of Caracalla.

It is also the starting point for walks through the parks of Monte Celio or through the little streets of the Rione Monti district around the Madonna dei Monti church, a traditional neighbourhood in the heart of Rome. The Aventine hill with its beautiful views over the city, and the working-class district of Testaccio, known for its restaurants and nightclubs, are also close by.

With the Colosseo metro station only five minutes’ walk away, and plenty of buses passing down the Via Labicana, getting around Rome will be child’s play.
