On arrival
Flanked by two rather stylish shrubs for this small 12th arrondissement street, the hotel entrance opens out onto a huge lobby which forms the heart of the establishment. Directly opposite the entrance stands the reception desk, to its left, access to the lifts, and to its right, an exhibition area serving as bar, lounge, dining room and art gallery.

Leading through to a conservatory and a bamboo-filled patio, this vast area takes on a different character depending on the time of day. When empty, the white walls and black flagstones can feel slightly cold, but the atmosphere becomes much more cheerful and convivial once filled with people. Unlike some hotel lounges, there is plenty of room to move between the tables of varying heights (coffee tables, classic tables and longer tables d’hôtes).

The rooms
There are two categories of room: the eco rooms and the urban rooms. The former are decked out in shades of beige and sea-green/apple-green whilst light grey and charcoal grey are the predominant colours in the urban rooms. Both colour schemes have been assembled with great care and are enhanced with splashes of fuchsia.

There are no knickknacks or reproduction artwork. The fairly sparse, yet warm, décor is achieved essentially through a mix of soft colours and geometric shapes and patterns. Designer touches include the bedside lamps which are suspended from the ceiling and an immense rectangular mirror overhanging the bed. Whether the wallpaper, carpets, satin-feel curtains, lacquered wood or large tiles in the bathroom, all materials used are simple, modern and top quality.

A functional touch is added in the form of sizeable mirrors, cupboards and storage areas. One negative point, perhaps, is the desk stool supplied which may be more convenient but is not exactly conducive to spending long hours working at the desk. The larger “privilège” rooms are better-equipped than the others (with mini hi-fi, tea and coffee-making facilities, etc.) and their position at the end of a corridor, overlooking the patio, means they are particularly tranquil.
