Intimacy, harmony and up-to-the-minute

The Pavillon de Paris opened its doors in 1990, showcasing the work of interior designer Joseph Karam and the intention of the owner, Shahé Kalaidjian, to put to good use his experience of travelling and hotel management to create a resolutely contemporary hotel.

Contemporary in terms of communication technologies (free fax and wifi connection in every room), contemporary in terms of the materials and the way they are employed (organic matter, wood, cotton and linen), contemporary in terms of décor, with elegant, yet never minimalist, lines and finally, contemporary in terms of the warm sober colours.

These all come together to create a sensation of comfort, a feeling that all things superfluous have been removed in favour of the essential: a Buddha watches over the entrance, geometrical forms give a nod to the East yet this is merely alluded to, never concrete, as though to leave the way open for other influences.

The general ambiance and service are on a par with the décor and the hotel manager, Ani Kojayan, contributes her feel for all things Mediterranean to create a hotel which is not especially “trendy” but rather a contemporary experience to be shared with others.

The clientele

On weekdays the hotel enjoys the loyalty of a business clientele from the world of finance and the record industry and weekend guests, hailing from all over Europe, seem to appreciate its location and size, the perfect dimensions for creating a backdrop of intimacy and gentle elegance.
