Entrance
With its sand-coloured stone façade, chrome plaques and neat shrubs, the contemporary elegance of the Walt makes its mark on an avenue in the Motte-Picquet quarter which is itself lined with beautiful façades, plane trees and lots of local shops.
The entrance leads onto a large open-plan area spanning the whole of the ground floor. Indeed, with one glance from the lobby you can see all the public areas of the hotel.
The reception desk, sitting to the immediate right of the entrance, looks onto the avenue and the small lounge opposite. In the rear of the room, the bar and breakfast room overlook the patio. Transparent voiles in plum or pink adorn the walls and the breakfast room, adding a touch of intimacy without blocking out any light.
The hotel boasts custom-made furniture in modern, rounded shapes, combining light wood with plum velvet. Voiles and reproductions of classic paintings adorn the walls, large sand-coloured tiles cover the floor and radio music fills the air. Hotel guests circulate freely, stopping for a brief chat at reception. The general atmosphere is vibrant, not especially muted or trendy but cleverly original with a touch of romance.
On the bar side a short veranda leads onto an elegant patio where vine stocks, rosebushes and parasols protect a dozen or so tables, the best place in the hotel to find peace and tranquillity.
The rooms
The rooms are neat and stylish, all designed to the same model. Contemporary décor in shades of beige and chocolate find expression in the cushioned parquet flooring, elegant dark wood furniture, sand-coloured cornicing and lightly textured gold curtains. The walls are painted plain white with the exception of the one behind the bed, which is covered in a brown granular wallpaper.
The headboards depicting paintings from the Louvre, reproduced by artists from the Van Rijn studio, give the rooms their unique personality. Whether a detail from Veronese’s Last Supper, light-hearted scenes from a Fragonard or portraits by Dutch masters, they are an integral part of the wall and the animal print of the bedspread is always discretely reproduced in one of the details. The electronic control pad for the room is integrated into the frame.
The white enamel bathrooms are very well equipped with scales, magnifying mirror and full spa kit complete with massage glove. A border of small acid-coloured glass tiles adds a touch of freshness and vigour.
Room service offers a selection of Asian dishes or pizzas during meal times and foie gras or smoked salmon outside these times. DVDs and free internet access via an Ethernet connection are also provided.
Room types
The establishment has two types of rooms: the classic and the deluxe. The classic and classic superior are smaller than the others and don’t have a sitting area, but are located either in an annex with access to the patio or on the top floor with a view of the top of the Eiffel Tower.
Most of the hotel rooms fall into the deluxe category. These are slightly larger and have a small sitting area with a table and one or two chairs. Although the double-glazing is effective, the rooms overlooking the patio are slightly quieter than those overlooking the avenue.
Breakfast
Continental breakfast comprising pastries, fruit juice and dairy products, or a buffet-style breakfast which also offers a selection of cured meats and cheeses, fruit and fruit salad. The drinks are served at your table.
