On arrival
If you have reserved direct with the hotel, your first contact is likely to be via e-mail. You will receive a “mypreferences” questionnaire on which you can state your preferences, ranging from type of pillow to welcoming music or even more glamorous options such as roses or a bottle of champagne.

Although a rather austere corner building, myhotel Chelsea has a pretty little terrace along one side. On the other side a flight of white stone steps leads you to the hotel lobby. To your immediate left is the entrance to mybar, the hotel’s lounge bar-cum-restaurant, and on the right, past the access to the lifts, you come to the room which houses the reception desk.

Very girly in soft pink with a floral sofa, the reception has some feng shui touches such as crystals, an aquarium with tropical fish and candles diffusing a pleasant aroma.

Lodged in the corner of the building, mybar is a joyful mix of lounge areas and tables of different heights. Guests and locals alike enjoy its warm ambience, almost reminiscent of a cottage by the sea, with its white wood panelled walls, its wood and leather rocking chair, sofas protected by cushions and throws, its designer fireplace set in the wall and its hard wood parquet flooring. The bar side is more urban with its funky purple lighting and large floral print wallpaper.

In the centre of this L-shaped building is the conservatory, with its high old-fashioned atrium. This is a light, eclectic loft-lounge where a large sofa, different shaped leather chairs, bookcases, computers and plants sit atop a white tiled floor. Behind the conservatory you have a mini gym and a massage and treatment centre.

The rooms
The rooms are mellow with the same simple, fresh feel. Use is made of warm materials in shades of beige or rosy pink with subtle contrasts: light carpet, light wood furniture, bedside lamps in untreated wood, bright velvet bed throws, curtains in silk or toile de Jouy style printed fabrics.

The headboards in fine canetage, the pink of the wallpaper and wide light shades lend a touch of romance to the rooms, whilst the lack of knickknacks and décor help to create a gentle neutral canvas.

The bathrooms, just as light as the rooms, are covered in small white enamel tiles and have designer taps with a retro accent.

Room types
The hotel has four main types of rooms: mysolo, mydouble, mysuperior and mysuite in addition to the two Red Rooms and the Thaï suite.

Although all the rooms have a fairly different layout, it is principally the size which distinguishes them. The mysuperior rooms, more spacious than the mydoubles, have an office area and armchair. The mysuites have a lounge with sofa in an open space off the bedroom.

The two red rooms on the ground floor play on a contrast of red and black. The futon bed is low-lying and the photos are softly sensual.

The Thaï suite is dark and well-equipped with kitchen, walk-in wardrobe and a bathroom with a large shower/ steam room and bath. The praying Buddha, imposing furniture and the colour orange add a touch of Asia to the main room whilst the huge king-size bed could be an altar in a Buddha temple.
