Ripa Hotel
LocationThe immediate entourage of the hotel is an uninteresting combination of slightly dull brick and concrete buildings. However it is in a strategic position some thirty metres from the main thoroughfare of Trastevere, beside the Ministry of Education, on the tramway route which takes you to the centre of Rome or Trastevere station in about ten minutes. The hotel is fifteen minutes’ walk from the tourist hotspot of Santa Maria in Trastevere but is sufficiently removed from it to allow you to discover another Trastevere, that of San Francesco a Ripa and its market, Santa Cecilia in Trastevere and its underground chapel, not forgetting the narrow streets leading to the foot of the Gianicolo and ultimately along the Via Garibaldi to the Palazzo Corsini and magnificent botanic gardens. The whole of the city is within fast, easy reach using the numerous buses and trams which operate along the Viale di Trastevere. Every Sunday morning at the nearby Porta Portese flea market you will find an eclectic mix of Romans jostling for second-hand clothes, gadgets and antiques in a wide avenue running between some modern buildings. |
