The Hoxton
LocationThe hotel sits on the upper end of Great Eastern Street in the London Borough of Hoxton. Once the heart of working class London, Hoxton went on to become the haunt of artists and is now changing yet again to be become the in-place for Londoners looking for buzzing bars, cafés and concert halls. A sign of the times, the Latin café Favela Chic, a huge success in Paris, has just opened up a few metres from the Hoxton. This part of London between Hoxton and Shoreditch, with its many cafés, the Columbia Road Flower Market on Sundays and Spitalfields market, is a cheerful mix of alternative urban life and bobo boutiques. If you arrive at Old Street underground station, don’t be surprised when you come out into fairly stark surroundings (Old Street is a big roundabout surrounded by offices) as this will change to a more classic urban landscape as soon as you hit Great Eastern Street. |
