The Rockwell
On a Mediterranean patioThe Rockwell, two Victorian houses converted into a hotel with 60 or so rooms, opened in 2005. The owners, interior designers, completely revamped the converted building to create pleasant communal areas with accomplished, cosy décor, simpler, more practical bedrooms and, the star attraction, an amazing teak patio decked with olive trees and bamboos. The hotel is independent and original, something of a rarity in this part of London where there is a glut of rather tasteless hotels, and attracts the trendy locals to its bar, restaurant and patio. The rooms are well laid out, simple and tasteful but with shower only. Although the hotel overlooks a busy road, it has invested in adequate sound proofing to cut out as much noise as possible. The service is particularly welcoming and attentive. The clienteleAlthough it mainly attracts a business clientele in the week, the hotel is ideally situated for weekend guests looking to enjoy West London with quick easy access to the city centre.
